Not just for scones!
I bought this on a whim because it looked like it would make "cute" scones. Well, it makes cute scones and it also makes cute brownies, corn bread and other cute sweet treats. The brownies had to be "nudged" out, but they were still perfect. The corn muffins and scones popped right out. My only complaint is that the pan did not come with any recipes, so I always seemt to have a few empty compartments, and Nordic Ware's web site does not even showcase this pan, let alone provide a receipe. However, enterprising cooks will figure out the right proportion of batter to make. This is a lovely little pan.
Great Mini Scone Pan
This Mini Scone Pan makes the perfect size scone. I enjoy the scones at "the turn" when I play golf.
Excellent scone pan
I recently made vanilla bean scones with this pan and they came out great. No sticking and they cooked evenly. I would highly recommend this pan.
A Mile High Delight!
I live at high altitude, and although I have wonderful high altitude recipes to use to make scones, I do also love my other recipes from sea level that make tea time DELICIOUS. Until now, that meant courting disaster. Now with this heavy, well made, scone pan, it fits my high altitude needs perfectly. Previously the scone dough would spread out way too far and be an unattractive (yet tasty)shallow blobish triangle. This pan helps to corral the dough in meticulous tiny triangles. Now I have perfect triangles to share at afternoon tea.
I also enjoy the smaller size, because them I can have a couple of varieties out at tea time to share. With smaller scones, I can offer all of the traditional sandwiches and such, and nobody will be over-stuffed.
I still make the traditional shaped ones, and the circle cut out ones for dough that doesn't spread too much, somehow I feel that then it doesn't have a "triangular muffin" look, but this pan has saved me stress. I also own the scottish scone pan. I haven't used it yet, but bigger scones are awesome too.
Give this pan a try. I think you'll love it.
Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all. - Harriet van Horne
I make scones all the time as my love of scones has rubbed off upon my son and husband. I had originally purchased the NordicWare Scottish Scone/Cornbread Pan and while that is a wonderful scone pan, my recent purchase of this one has moved it to 2nd place on my preference list.
I favor the smaller scones made with this pan. With the large pan I felt one scone was almost too much to eat, I still managed of course, but was left with that too full feeling. With these smaller scones, I can have two and not feel like I am going to explode, and I can sample a variety of flavors.
The pan itself is of the highest quality. It's heavy, it's thick and durable and the scones pop right out leaving the pan looking like it was never used. Every time I bake scones I am amazed at how easy they come out of the pan without having to grease or butter it before baking.
I don't own a dishwasher but if I did, this is one pan I wouldn't put in it. In the days when I had a dishwasher (those were the days) I always omitted the most special cooking pans and dishes, preferring to give them a more gentle hand cleaning.
As someone who enjoys her time in the kitchen, cooking and baking, its products like this that thrills me to bits. NordicWare bake ware is a relatively new discovery for me, but if this is an example of the standard of product they put out, it's a name I will continue to look for when purchasing cookware.
